Sailing Biography: Capt. Michael Mosser
I found my love of the sea, and to that which floats above and which lives beneath, growing up on the waters of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I was enrolled at an early age in the Stage Harbor Yacht Club Sailing School in Chatham, MA, where I learned to sail a variety of small boats. These early lessons into the physics of sailing and the encouraged observation of the weather helped inspire me to teach sailing. I became an Instructor In Training at the age of twelve and a full-time Instructor at the age of fourteen. I continued to teach children and adults how to sail for the next eight years. While working for the Stage Harbor Sailing School, I also had many opportunities to crew aboard larger sailing- and motoryachts on deliveries along the east coast of the United States. It was during this time that I earned my U.S.C.G. 50 ton Masters License, Assistance Towing Endorsement, Marine Radio Operators Permit,as well as my F.A.A. Private Pilots License. I left the ocean for four years to study biology at the College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. When I was not involved with my studies, or camping in the surrounding mountains, I spent my time working on, and flying, light aircraft in the gorgeous south west. I have worked in Annapolis as a full-time yacht delivery captain for the last five years. My delivery experience includes sail- and motoryachts from 35 to 70 foot, and everything in between. I have logged many thousands of offshore miles and know the various inlets and coastlines of the Eastern seaboard and Caribbean intimately. When I am not involved with deliveries I work for the local SeaTow company in Annapolis.
